The
Chancel Guild
The Chancel
Guild is a traditional Ministry working behind the scenes, intended to
be mostly unseen. Individuals are invited by the Rector to join the
Guild. Members view this honour to serve as a long-term commitment, many
of the current members counting their years in the Chancel in decades.
The duties of
the Chancel Guild include preparing the altar for weekly services,
arranging flowers, decorating the Sanctuary for festivals and caring for
the linens and vestments. In the past linens were all hand-made by
members of the Guild; however they are often now purchased. Members meet
once per month (except for the summer) for a brief business meeting. As
well, they enjoy fellowship at a morning brunch in June and a pot luck
supper in September.
Flowers placed
on the altar each week are given by parishioners to the glory of God and
in memory of loved ones, in celebration of family, anniversaries,
birthdays, or other special occasions. Flower arrangements are then
enjoyed by the families or given to fellow parishioners in sympathy,
celebration or support. At Christmas and Easter the congregation is
invited to make donations and names are recognized in the bulletin.
If you are
interested in placing flowers on the altar, or making a donation to the
Chancel please contact the church to leave a message or see Connie at church.
